Pender County will launch a new Software Program on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 aimed at improving Agenda Management and Transparency for Pender County.

Pender County is currently working to complete Phase 1 of the implementation of the iCompass Agenda Software. The transition to a paperless agenda and records management system is expected to benefit the Pender County in a number of ways. First, by reducing the time the County Manager’s office spends preparing and distributing agenda packets.  We expect this new tool to save many hours per meeting which our Manager’s office will use to focus on other important projects. Secondly, this program will reduce the number of paper packets printed for the Board of Commissioners Meeting. Of course, this improvement in paper usage will also have a substantial  impact on our overall carbon footprint. Perhaps the most important benefit of this system is that Pender County has improved the public’s access to information online by launching the CivicWeb Portal - a new online hub for meeting and records information.  We are excited to now provide complete searchable access to agenda packets and supporting items from previous and upcoming meetings online. Once the Municode Code Recodification project is complete, the Public will also be able to find Pender County’s Code of Ordinances here. To view the iCompass CivicWeb Portal and subscribe for updates, please visit https://pendercountync.civicweb.net/Portal/.

Santa Claus is coming to Hampstead for breakfast. He will visit with good little boys and girls on Saturday, Dec, 17, 8:00-10:30 a.m. at the Hampstead Women’s Club building, 14435 Hwy. 17.

Breakfast with Santa is sponsored by the Hampstead Women’s Club and the Greater Topsail Area Chamber of Commerce. This year Pender County Tourism is jumping in to assist as well.
“Santa is coming to town,” said Patricia Truscello, president of the Hampstead Women’s Club. “He is stopping here to have breakfast.”

Truscello said volunteers from the chamber, the women’s club and the tourism office will cook up sausage and pancakes.

RALEIGH, NC – The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) plays a unique role in helping all disaster survivors recover.

If you are a Hurricane Matthew disaster survivor who lives in one of the 35 North Carolina counties designated for individual assistance and has applied for help with FEMA, you may be referred to the SBA. If you receive a loan application, it is important to submit it as soon as possible. This will ensure that the federal disaster recovery process continues and you keep your options open. If you receive a loan application, even if you do not believe you need a loan, you should submit the application. If SBA determines you are eligible for a loan, you do not have to accept it.

Next to insurance, an SBA low-interest disaster loan is the primary source of funds for real estate property repairs and for replacing contents destroyed in the recent flooding. The SBA provides low-interest loans to homeowners, renters and businesses of all sizes.
